Early birdSubh is still being built: expect changes, and tell us what you think.

Play together

Play music together, from anywhere.

Open a room in your browser, share the link and play with friends in real time. No download, no account: just you, your instrument and the people you love playing with.

Subh le chéile is Irish. Le chéile means together, and yes, subh is the kind you spread on toast.

Meet the Subhíns

Everyone who joins gets their own Subhín: a little jar of subh with its own flavour, face and lid. It sits next to your name in every session.

  • Apricot
  • Blueberry
  • Gooseberry
  • Blackcurrant
  • Strawberry
  • Marmalade

Three steps to your first session

  1. Open a room

Give it a name and share the link. Friends join from their own computer, nothing to install.

  2. Check your sound

A short guided check sets your microphone, confirms your headphones and measures your delay, so you know what to expect before the first note.

  3. Play

Your sound goes straight to the other players. A shared metronome, backing tracks and recording are built in.

Near or far, there’s a way to play

On a stage, sound takes about 3 ms to travel a metre, and musicians adapt without thinking. Online, the stage is bigger. Subh measures how far apart each of you is and picks the right way to play together, pair by pair, on its own.

Close by: play live

Within a few hundred kilometres, play as if on a big stage. Subh shows the delay honestly, and players further away sound a little further away, as they would on a real stage, so your ear follows the ones closest to you.

The closest sound loudest, as on a stage.

Far apart: one bar later

Across the sea or further, Subh plays the far ones back exactly one bar later, on the shared beat: in time, with nothing to set. Close players stay live with each other.

One bar, then everyone’s part comes round again.

Want to feel it first? The practice room lets you hear both in two minutes.

THold T to talk: those who hear you a bar later hear you right away, so you can chat between tunes.

What you need

  • Headphones

Wired ones. Bluetooth adds a delay you will hear.

  • A computer and a recent browser

Chrome, Edge or Firefox work best. Safari works too, with a little more delay.

  • A steady connection

Wi-Fi is fine within the same country. Further apart, plug your computer into your router with a cable. Either way, pause big downloads and video calls while you play.

  • Your instrument or voice

Through your computer’s microphone or an audio interface.

Your music stays between you

Sound travels directly between players, encrypted. When a network blocks direct links, it passes through our relay, which only forwards encrypted audio and keeps nothing. We never record your sessions: only you can, on your own computer.

Pick a name and play. No email needed.

Ready when you are

Start a room, send the link to a friend, and play your first tune together.
